PLS-SEM Workshop Marks Ongoing Collaboration Between UMPSA and Muscat College

Muscat College, in partnership with the Faculty of Industrial Management, UMPSA, recently concluded a highly successful workshop on Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), using the advanced SmartPLS 4 software. Held on May 8 and 9, 2024, at the Muscat College campus in the Sultanate of Oman, this workshop is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic collaboration between these institutions. Due to its success, the program is expected to become an annual activity.

PLS-SEM is a statistical data analysis technique increasingly popular in business and management research. It is primarily used for analyzing primary data from survey questionnaires, helping researchers explore complex relationships between observed and latent variables.

Workshop Details:
- Resource Person: Dr. Azim Azuan bin Osman from Faculty of Industrial Management, UMPSA served as the resource person, leading the workshop and providing both theoretical and practical insights into PLS-SEM, facilitated by the use of SmartPLS 4 software.
- Participants: Lecturers, postgraduate students, and staff members from Muscat College’s Department of Business and Accounting were active participants.
- Content: The program covered the essentials of PLS-SEM, including designing effective survey questionnaires, and hands-on practice in drawing, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting the results of measurement and structural models.
- Opening Address: Dr. Araby Madbouly, Head of the Department of Business and Accounting at Muscat College, delivered an inspiring opening speech, emphasizing the importance of this collaborative initiative.

Participants greatly appreciated the practical application of PLS-SEM techniques, which enhanced their analytical skills and deepened their understanding of complex statistical models. The hands-on sessions were particularly beneficial, enabling attendees to directly apply what they learned to their research projects.

This workshop and subsequent discussion not only bolstered the analytical capabilities of participants but also reinforced the collaborative bond between UMPSA and Muscat College, fostering a shared commitment to advancing research and educational excellence.
